How Things Change (aka How Things Stay the Same)

Is Ebay the epitome of modern society and all its shallowness? While you pick up rare records and stuff (what it was initially designed for I suppose) I have seen a couple of things of late that surprised me. One was someone trying to sell Paul McCartney's cold, claiming he'd got it off him when he was working for him and that he'd "cough into a napkin" if the price was right. The other thing was people selling mud from Glastonbury festival. Now, this is not a nicely packaged piece of prime turf from the rolling hills of Somerset, oh no, this is shit-and-piss mud scraped of the sweaty Wellington boot of some student who claims to have spent the entire weekend in "one of the first two rows of the Pyramid Stage, where Muse, Morrissey and Oasis played". Big deal. The first guy who did it raised 210 pounds for charity and the same for himself. Then loads of people tried it, to varying degrees of success. Also, saw today on the Guardian website that Paddy Ashdown is the International Governor of Bosnia. When did that happen? I love that. He was publically shamed in Britain for having an extra marital affair and labelled "Paddy Pants-down" then reappears as International governor of Bosnia. Excellent.
