Sherlock Melinder

I never made the connection between the spanish word "barba" and the pink hero "Barbapapa". But he doesn´t have a beard. Can somebody explain? I also heard that the sugary foam made out of sugar at amusement parcs (sockervadd) is called "barbapapa", which makes sense. But which came first?
Isn´t Barbapapa french? Probably not. I been living 30 years with all the info twisted. This explains a lot.

Barbapapa is actually Austrian. I don´t beleive there´s a connection between Barba and beard.

But he´s got no beard! He´s like anti-beard, his wife thought, she´s got some facial hair going on. I don´t know if it´s Austrian or Swiss by the way

Barbapapa is French (at least it was conceived in France). It's coming from the french word for coton-candy.
