BLENDA

1999 var det sju flickor som fick Blenda som tilltalsnamn. Det var nästan lika många som under resten av 90-talet. Blenda är ett mycket ovanligt namn bland de yngsta och nästan lika ovanligt i äldre generationer. Det finns bara 800 i landet som bär namnet.
Trots sin ovanlighet togs Blenda med i almanackan 1901 i stället för Beda, vilket kanske ändå var välbetänkt eftersom den Beda almanackan syftade på var en man som skrev kyrkohistoria i England på 600-talet. Sedan 1986 får de båda namnen dela på dagen i kalendern. Blenda är ett renodlat svenskt namn som enligt historikern Alf Henrikson troligen uppfunnits av regementskvartermästaren Petter Rudebeck. Denne Rudebeck lyckades länge lura i historikerna en skröna om en kvinna vid namn Blenda som en gång med stor list tillintetgjorde en fientlig dansk här. Historien anses numera uppdiktad, men den gjorde Blenda till ett känt namn.

Job number 1 pays slightly more,
Job number 2 is where I'm at now.
#1, can go there with my bike (30 mins)
#2, have to take the bus (30 mins)
both are teaching jobs, same type of kids.
#1 small conservative school, nice female principal.
#2 big, modern thinking school, angry male principal.

Fuego señores, fuego

At 6.30 this morning there was Action on st pere as some barca huligans decided to Burn the Barrio. I woke up thinking it was fireworks and Barceloneta cleaning the streets but it was los bomberos and flames and maaad explosions. Someone managed to burn 21 motos and give the neighbouring house a nice black touch. They actually had to go and wake some of the neighbours in the house cause they didn't wake up. Noone was impressed with that I can say.

I had first seat position and even managed to take some photos (in theory) of the crazy event.
Would el periodico buy them of me you think?

Today they have removed all the burnt out motos and there is a really big black patch. I've been following the poor Barceloneta people trying to clean up the mess and it still looks like shit - not to mention the house that will need to be renovated on the outside.

In my tax declaration I will mention that I should pay less tax this year, I think I inhaled some of the dangerous fumes, at least my room was stinking at 7 this morning.

Jimmy's been a busy boy

Yesterday night I went with a friend to an enclosed pasture to take some photos of cows, nothing else better to do...
We went inside which was a very bad idea.
After about an hour, we heard a thundering noice from behind. Twenty cows decided that they apparently didn't want us there anymore. The fence was electric and the entrance was about 100 metres away.
I have never run so fast in my whole life and we got away with a hairbreadth.
I'll never drink milk again.
After that we went to the Öresundsbron and got chased by murcielagos.

Every year it is the same surprise when nature finally decides to take on summer. The year so far has been grey, grey, grey, rain, cold, snow, rain, windy, grey..... and then one day when you walk out the door it´s all green, flowers, icecreams and short skirts. Love is in the air. Spring is here, for real this time. Best proof of that is that Christian is in love. Again. This time with some barely legal, barely swedish and more probably impossible girl.

Me home sick. It's all Steve's fault, after him repeating fever fever on Saturday night, I caught something bad and nasty. Well, it's kind of gone now but I have to recoup my lost Sunday which was spent in front of the tv wathing formula1 and the hysteria with Letizia and the prince having a baby. Dios mio!

They actually cancelled other programs so they could show a special. And there wasn't even something new to show, just some freaks chasing her granddad for a comment, entering with him into the little bodega to buy the newspaper and he just wanted to be left alone. Leave the poor people alone. Usch!

Best thing I ever done

Oh yeah. I can already say that working part time and being home with Blenda part time is the best thing I ever done. Not until now have I understood and got the feeling that I am daddy-o. Until now i kind of felt like an assistant to mum melinder. I leave work at 12 to get home and spend some prime time with Blenny. She is pure fun. Yesterday we went for the weekly babyswim, without Josehine, and it was totally cool. I am a happy böy. Will soon post those Nevermind photos from the babyswim, just gonna develop the film.

Tomorrow is holiday. In spain as well?

Tomorrow I start working part time. 8-12 at the Skånska Degbladet and then spend some prime time with Blenda. Looking forward to that. A bit scary as well. It´ll be quite hectic in the beginning i guess. First thing is that I have to get to work in time, I can´t get there late and leave soon after. I haven´t been in time for work more then 5 times this last 13 months working there. Hmmm, don´t know how to get around that problem. Anyone?

Yesterday I went to a birthday party at a club, at the end, semi drunk, I met an old pupil of mine. He gave me a big hug and thanked me.
