A kingdom for an opinion.
This week at Pitchforkmedia they have been listing the top-50 reissues, top-50 singles and top-50 albums of 2004. Some people are suckers for lists and some are not. I love it.
There are some interesting choices on the top lists. Some surprises and some mistakes.

Catalan does not appear in my top 5
After the last 7/8 months of fooling myself and lots of other people that I´m a translator, I´ve finally come to the conclusion I know jack shit about Catalan. Today, I discovered there are nearly 20 different ways of telling the time, depending on location, situation con quien etc...

M83 - Farewell/Goodbye
French music from the coastal town Antibes (I think that´s quite close to BCN).
Check out the song here.
They´re not exactly afraid of big gestures, healing music.

Oh my God, That´s some silent shit.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, here I go again blabbering about silence and the beauty of micro sounds.
Yesterday when I took the dog for his nightly walk, there was a few centimeters of snow in Malmö. Not much, but enough to change the looks and the sounds of the city. Apart from the white glow, and the yellow streetlights reflecting in the snow, it is the sound that changes most. The snow absorbs all the sounds, and leaves you with the feeling of being in a jar with the lid on. Well, I probably don´t have to explain this for you as you all have experience of snow and winter. But, anyway, I love it. Walked around in Malmö and it was all silent.
Got the christmas tree yesterday. Decorated it. Wrapped some christmas gifts. Being a good husband and father. With black a black heart.
Sum sum sum sum....

Please help this sucker.

I need to get christmas presents for:
Mom & Pop, maybe a book about dogs?
Wife, ???
Sobrina 14 years old, headphones for her new MP3 player?
Sobring 3,5 years old, ???
Sister & Brother in law, books?
Brother, more kinda birthday stuff, 40 years.
Me, new wacom?
And I need to get all of this stuff before wednesday, and it can´t cost anything. I am skint.
Any suggestions?
I 8 myself sic.
Little Papi Tommy had to go to bed early saturyday evening. I ate food that could have fed a small family for at least six months. Didn´t learn from my mistake though, the morning after I got up early to start all over again. And christmas haven´t even started around here.
Woke up yesterday morning, and the landscape was all white outside. Lovely. Took a walk in the snow with my main dog, Haddokk. I think I found the meaning of life. Had to leave it behind though, go back to Malmö and earn my living. Thank You, God.
Do they know it´s christmas time at all? Starving little fuckers.

Wordz of Wizdom?
Saw this today: "The Oxford dictionary seems to be embracing a lot of vernacular words with most of them in the 2,000 new and revised entries that have found their way into the prestigious dictionary's online edition. According to New York Daily News, the entries include "thugged out", a hip-hop expression defined as "tough looking". "For most of the last century, African-American vernacular has been the driving force in American slang. If that word is being used, our responsibility is to put it in." principal editor Jesse Sheidlower was quoted as saying.
"Hoochie," which means an overtly sexual woman, means "currency." "Crack ho," another entry is slang for a prostitute addicted to crack cocaine. The ever-evolving English language was the source for the other entries, a lengthy list that includes "fanfic," "po' boy," "beat down" and the proverbial "Joe Schmo"."

Sa-Ra Creative Partners
Letting you guys in on a little secret --> Sa-Ra.
Really cool music done by some über-cool L.A dwellers, interesting thing about these guys is that they run their group as if it was a bizniz, as if they were an advertising company or something. There´s a huge hype on these guys at the moment and they will blow up next year, definately. They´re producing everybody, they will release their own stuff on Ubiquity. They´re doing all A&R for Rawkus.
Not forgetting that the music is fucking excellent; check out how this track rolls, on & off the beat;
or how this song sounds kinda European or this one, which I´m waiting to get on vinyl now on pink vinyl. :)
I-Erik, always slipping you that fresh, nasty stuff.

Yes. It's official.
At 11:10 I see the end of the light, my holidays are running towards and over me. Swedeland is calling. James, I heard you coming home last night but I was too tired to say hello/goodbye/merry christmas and the rest, my apologies, have fun with the cat! Don't forget that she has access to the internet and WILL inform us if she is treated unfair. She might loose interest in you as well when her favourite man arrives, señor Lewis. Don't take it personal.
So, on mi way to prepare the scandinavian feast now with finlandia vodka filled chocolate (yes, the ones no one would eat in the house), Danish kagor and Swedish pepparkakor. People are going to freak out.
And oh! The lotes de navidad are here! I have to gooooooooooooo

A fool surrounded by fools
Today at the coffee break we started talking about dinosaurs for some reason (someone being attacked by a dinosaur!) and all of a sudden the discussion were on "Jurassic Park" like it was based on a true story. First I laughed. Then I cried. What am I doing here?
christmas drinks anyone?
Tomorrow night, we are having a little party here in sant marti to celebrate Oscar´s b´day (my flatemate). James, Erik and anybody else in bcn you are more than welcome to drop by after 10 for some fun and laughter.................................
Some cool baby clothes from Chicago!
These are done by Kent Rayhill from the band TRS-80 (File 13 Records) who used to design for Racecar Graphics, the nice people responsible for the "Independent Chicago" cover on Fork Series Records.

Some Natural 20 beats to continue the day with...
Last night while drinking a lot of wine by myself I composed this little diddy. It´s a rought sketch of it, of course it needs to be mixed and all that stuff, the two guitar will have a more alike sound and the piano on the end will be played properly. The break and the way the song picks up again is not finished as well, I have an idea how to do that though.
But, I feel that something is missing, at least from the first part of the song, before it picks up, I was thinking something in line of a crowd of people or maybe a speech or something. Anyone got any ideas on what I could put on there?

Krankie hurt in beanstalk tumble
Sorry for so many blogs. I am bored. This made me laugh, though: BBC News Story
The "Krankies", for the uninitiated, were a "comedy" duo from the 80s in England. They were awful, to be honest.

Gurkmeja
I´m looking for an english translation of this spice. It´s like yellow, doesn´t add any flavor more or less only yellow color. What is it called in English?
This doesn't sound like the "La Caixa" I know
On the website there is a section for "Extranjeros" (in Spanish, naturally) that says:
"¿Sabías que con "la Caixa", podrás financiar tus proyectos e ilusiones? Podemos ofrecerte el crédito o préstamo que te convenga según tus necesidades.
¡Acércate a cualquier oficina de "la Caixa" y estaremos encantados de poder atenderte en el idioma que prefieras (inglés, francés, alemán, árabe, ruso o sueco)!"
Yeah right! Someone should print this out from the website and then try getting a loan in Swedish at their local branch, "cualquier oficina" thery say. Incredible. I remember that Bohman was refused an account there even though he had cash (and spoke good Spanish!). Liars!

Beware of the B15A
I was browsing the Guardian newspaper this morning, as I do most mornings, reading all the main stories and occasionally a few others if I have time, when I read about the B15A, a huge iceberg in the Antarctic that is on the move. It's 76 miles long, 17 miles wide is made up of 1,200 square miles of ice and snow, is disrupting the feeding patterns of, according to scientists, as many as 50,000 penguinswho are now forced to travel more than 60 miles to find food, it is part of an even bigger iceberg that broke loose from the mainland in 2000 and split into two in November 2003, US experts reckon B15A contains enough fresh water to supply Egypt's Nile River complex for 80 years - or to satisfy the water requirements of the UK population for 60 years. It was drifting north at about 1.2 miles a day when it wedged between the land and a tiny island, where it now stops the wind and currents breaking up the thick layer of ice covering coastal waters. "There is more blocked ice in McMurdo Sound than we've ever recorded in living history for this time of year," Mr Sanson said.
Then, the best bit is that Lou Sanson, chief executive of Antarctica New Zealand (the most important guy doing reasearch there), called the iceberg "the largest floating thing on the planet right now".
Wow. He's a genius.

Yes. Three petty little days and then the plane heads for Swedelandia and the land of the Swedes. Holidays. How I like it.

So, what´s new?
This is, for example.
Read in the newspaper today that there is not enough almonds for the yearly obsession of Turron in Spain. What you gonna do about that? Riots?
Slept bad, overslept and got my shoelacer stuck in the bike while biking to work. Lovely start of a lovely day.

some people want playstations for christmas
I just want my mam 2b ok........ last saturday my mam had an accident on a plane coming back from Spain and is now in hospital in Ireland.
As Christmas is a time for love and all that jazz, positive vibes from the worldwide slacker possee are more than welcome. It doesn´t cost anything just a few seconds of your time to zap some positive energy in that direction (the little small green blob beside England).

Me, myself and my christmas crib
we've got an all fancy toilett with a good old fashioned christmas crib. This is my protest after being to Plaza Jaume and seing their post-modern version of a catholic crib. The Burtanero didn't make it into my christmas crib. There's only place for Plastic-Maria, Plastic-Joseph and Plastic-babyJesus.
Got damn 100 pesetas shop screwed me for the three wise men though, hidden in plastic was instead a cow and a donkey (possibly other unidentified animal). And baby jesus has fat legs and a face I wouldn't be happy with. Other political correct christmas decorations come from barbie-the-wheelchairer
And let it be known. Tvättställ is as good as handfat. Google tvättställ and see for yourself. Ifö.

Top Of The World, Mum.
Christian! You will never believe this! Jan-Erik Brogren from Brogrens just came in to the office. You know the guys who sings "Jag har vatt i Öja...." Ooooooh, that totally made my day.
For all you old farts out there.
I kill therefore I am.
The new album by B.P. Billy & Matt Sweeney, Superwolf, is f**king fantastic. The first listen I gave it didn´t really get to me, but now a few more rounds I am totally obsessed by the drugged up lyrics and slow, sleepy and grumpy guitar accompaniment.

Could I be happy with something else?
I need some sounds to fill my time.
Oh, how I love our world of sounds. The sound of the city awakening. The sound of a city in a distance. The sound of noise. Unsound. This is my morning of sounds.
Woke up by the radio a few minutes to 6 am, listened to the news, more or less awake. To the right of me i heard very light breathing, Blenda deep asleep. Turned the radio off, got up. A silent. Woke the dog up. Got out and met Jon on his way to the bus, we were both too tired to have a academic conversation. The topics we brought up were about vomits and the lack of games in his new MP3 player (Zen Micro). Then the bus came to take him away for a long day at the office. It´s still 6.45 am and apart from a few buses and bikes, very silent and dark as a moonless night.
I cross the street, take a left and under the bridge, then a right again to follow the railtracks towards Persborg. I can almost feel the silence, it´s so quiet here. And I can also feel that the silence is about to disrupted by the city and the citizens waking up. I hear a whining from the railtracks, a train is coming, slowly. Very subtle I hear the wires above the tracks start vibrating, and a minute later the train passes slowly, long industrial train-set. A wam noise fills my ears. When it´s gone again I hear the sound of workers far away tearing up the asphalt, I know where they are because I will pass them later on my dogwalk. The sound from their machines bounce on the buildings where I am right now. They sound like woodpeckers. It´s past 7.00 now and the city is filling up with more and more sounds. Buses, cars, factories, people. Before I am home again I got this carpet of sound laying around me, hard to penetrate. A quick coffee at home, reading the newspaper for 10 minutes, a kiss and a hug to / from the family and off on the bike to the office. Headphones on, Gang of Four in my ears, Solid Gold, the reissue. On the 10 minute bike ride I get to listen to the first two tracks. And how I love them. The first music I listen to every day always blows my mind.
I think I prefer death before deaf.

UFO 'could have been electrocuted cat'
Lardal, Norway - Experts believe that a reported UFO sighting in southern Norway was probably an electrocuted cat. According to Ananova.com, people in the town of Lardal, southern Norway, reported seeing a fireball explode in the night sky. The fireball then reportedly fell slowly down to earth. But investigators reckon that they've solved the otherworldly mystery, finding the charred body of a cat at the base of an electrical mast. They believe that the unfortunate feline climbed up the pole and touched a livewire.Police spokesperson Lars Helge Sogn told Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten that what people saw was not an alien spaceship: it was, in fact, the cat exploding and falling off the mast. – Ananova.com
