Sant Pol, how to get there

Slowly, slowly starting to ease into vacational mode, 5 hours and counting... On tuesday I´ll be flying north for some days in Copenhagen, then off to Malmo to visit the beard, then off to Gothenburg for some, eh, gothenburgeoning?

Anyways, got some days here before and was thinking to spend at least one day at the beach with my señorita, and everybody´s talking about this beach Sant Pol, (Sant Pol is so crazy right now) where is this beach? And how do i get there?

Bread and tears?

I'd be interested to know how the evening ended up last night. Was it an alcohol-and-drug fuelled night of tears, nostalgia and sentimentality from Mr Lewis and Mr. Bohman or was it a civilised affair with faint references to going away and the good times had? Either way, bon voyage Andy, hope it goes really wel for you in Hongkers and afterwards, when you get back to BCN and also it was great to see you too Bohman, hope that the second half of 2004 brings you studies and happiness in the beautiful land of Sweden. It's a shame that I will be leaving in mid-September as I might not see you guys until 2005. Maybe at Christmas, maybe not. We'll see where we all are.

Rebecca and Cora get honorary mentions for making the evening such a nice one, the food was excellent and sorry for not making a tortilla!

Oh, and Tommy, have an excellent time at the festival and the bike rides with the new family.

Rrrrrrrrrrrrright! This boy is off for a well deserved vacation!

Friday, up to Norberg Festival (www.norbergfestival.com).
Saturday the train back to Malm.
Sunday biking on Ven with the new family.

See you again on monday.

Thanks a million for the goodies

I was mighty impressed. The dirty foreigners ate it all and only left the golden black for me. That suits me fine. And the Zoo's are nicer when they're in a little box, then you can eat them all in one go.
Erik, you missed a gaspacho de puta madre! And the three salads! And the bread! And el señor Gaitero, who wasn't impressed by the 2 pathetic bottles I bought. In Carrefour the cost 1.15. My local little man on mitja charges 3.25. Without blushing.

Fool for fried food.

Ack ja, ack ja. I read in the newspaper this morning that two spanish firemen died while firefighting the yearly fires in the woods. And that the temperatures were about 40-45 degrees. Thats hot!
Im wearing shorts today. First time this year, and we are just about to enter august. Fantastico. Not gonna start nagging about the late summer, now it is actually coming strong. Just in time for big I-Eriks visit. Girls are about to wear short-short. And icecream is about to be the daily diet.

So Andy is gone? Bohman is back to sweden? What is left of the Sant Pere possee? Did you get any package from sweden?

What Christian is up to? Nobody knows. I saw him briefly now the other day. Couldnt really figure out what was going on.

Got my soundcard yesterday. Dont know how it works. Complicated shit. And tomorrow Im off to the festival in Norberg tiot paly some audible terror. Stressed.

Today i had a nice bocadillo with salad and a mixture of melon and cottage cheese. Very recomended. 5 kronor in the cafeteria. Cheers.

All these goodbyes

Intense preparations in Andyland as bags are being packed, xibecas emptied and room cleaned... last night everyone arrived except Erik, who came 24 hours early and then mysteriously didn't arrive on the big night?
This morning the little taxi man brought back Bohman to to the crazy north.
This morning I had a little, but just a little one, headache. Enough to go home? Can I can I? I managed to hide some of the lovely food from yesterday which will make a smashing lunch, maybe its worth staying for that.
Chrillo, are you staying in Andys room when he is away? Or what are you doing, really? Do we want to know? The Berggren's arranged a marriage? House in Sturkö?

Dont carry it all, Dont carry at all.

I got something delivered to my door this morning. Dont know what to expect.

Last night 4 prisoners escaped from the roughest, toughest and puffest prison in sweden, Hall. They somehow had guns inside the prison and took hostage while shooting their way out of the prison. Outside there was a red Saab waiting and they took off. Drove away.
These 4 guys murdered some policemen a couple of years ago and where in for life. It was a big thing back then. The interesting part of the news is that a spokeswoman for the prison says that these guys are NOT dangerous for the public. How can they NOT be dangerous? They are murderers, they killed policeofficers in a very bad way not long ago, they are under pressure, being hunted by the swedish police. How can they NOT be dangerous? They are armed. Jesus. If theyre not dangerous, maybe they shouldnnt be in prison at all.

New Wave of the New Wave. (There is hope).

We are here!. New toys for gays.

I got my nosebleeding back. Love.

Love burn

Erik, you are all "loved up" this morning. What's up? Been taking one-too-many happy pills on the way to work or did Mercedes do that little "thing" you like so much? Either way, I am not complaining. Thank for the complement, too. The Farenheit 9/11 is okay, it's nothing you haven't seen/heard before (regarding what a turd Bush is) but it needed to be made, especially for the less-informed American public, as Erik rightly pointed out. We also went to the beach yesterday and didn't get burned. That's a good sign.

Saturday I went shopping but didn't buy anything. I got up early and went swimming for the first time in ages (in the pool, not the filthy sea) so I felt like a million pesos afterwards. Actually I did buy something: a t-shirt at Comité. Roope did some new ones at last and I got a discount (half price: not bad at all).

Punsch, that picture is terrible. Keep it for your bedroom wall. Half the people reading this probably don't even know who the band Skinny Puppy is, and the ones that do know don't like them (except for you and B-man, of course).

Found out this morning that the iBook I am getting is actually 14" and not the cheesy 12" size I expected. That's very good news for me and my eyes.

Another post-weekend post.

Horta sounds really nice, Was it already a year since I was there?
Cheezus. That river, beautiful.

Too bad about the sound-card thingie, Apple, all about fancy-schmanzy design, when to deliver... vaya vaya... Recordstores cool. Keep the midi-keyboard though, you might wanna do some wicked tweaking.

BCN was really really horrible on saturday, I couldn´t breathe so I went to see the fantastic movie Spiderman 2 at Icaria. Later at night some dinner with some beautiful people. We actually ate at Agua down by Barceloneta, I thought it was gonna be superxpensive but it was alright prices.

Last nite Fahrenheit 9/11 with an ever-so-beautiful James Pearse and some other marvellous people. Good movie, recommended, for americans.

One week left and then some 3 weeks of fat vacations where I will terrorize Tommy in Malmo, JP in Copenhagen, Joaquin in Oslo and my very own parents in Gotegoagoteborg.

Over & Out, I leave you with a fucking beautiful song from the Elvis Costello & Burt Bacharach lp from ´98 "Painted from Memory" (mp3).

VAYA WEEKEND!

The friendly little Seat once again made its way down to Horta de San Juan. And guess what, Horta is just as nice as it should always be. The Catalan youth danced traditional songs for us on the Saturday night (downtown square cityslickerhorta), they even managed to sneak in a polka but everyone knows that polka you only dance properly in Sweden at sweaty gymnastiksalar, age fifteen, with a burning sick note in your pocket that your gympateacher just laughed at. I won't mention the hand sweat because all Swedish here all men and surely it was all the boys providing the desperate air of teenage perspiration.

uuu I didn´t mean to go in to this, I am talking about Horta. Horta was nice. Horta hot. Horta river. Good bye Horta.  I asked Cora if we could come all weekends. She said yes without realising the consequences of that statement. If I had a camera I would put a link to the photos. But I don't.

Truckpung!

Hi Odd Fellows,

I guess I need to update you from the past weekend, even though not much water have been floating under the bridges of Scania. Or actually it has, probably more than ever before. But just the normal toxic post-farmer water from the fields, nothing to write home about.

Friday, been raising hell about it already, I got delivered the package from Apple as they promised, before the weekend! But it wasnt what i ordered. It was a shitty midi-keyboard. Had to spend all friday on the phone first talking to the Apple store in sweden, then to some yawning little gayboy in Holland to make them come pick the parcel up again. And the again to the Apple store to order a new one. Which i will have for christmas if I am a little lucky boy.
In the evening we went to see the "Torremolinos 73", which i found very funny and nice to rest my tired eyes upon. Go see it. Followed up by 6 million cans of "folkoel" outside Jons flat.
Saturday morning, a race through a few fleamarkets. Bought cool toys for Junior, cool toys for Tommy and fun stuff for flat. Plus an evening in the park, 6 more million cans of folkoel, boccia and kubb (stupid games, both of them).
Sunday, more fleamarkets, more crap. Saw Shrek 2, was totally on my level of intelligence. Worked on the coverart with the Now guys, ready to send to factory.

Might open a recordshop at Moellan, besides Oelkafeet. Very soon. The saga continues.....

Got to work late. Woke up late. Got to bed late. Tired. Thats the way life should be.
Got nothing to do at work. Not until tomorrow. This the calm minutes before the storm breakes loose.
Been stumbling around the world wide web to investigate about cars. I want a car badly. Not just any car, my dream is still to one day be the owner of a Citroen DS. Check this old brochure Aaaaaah! Thats a car. Cant possibly argue about that. Theres an old car musuem in Ugglarp, a few hours driving from Malm. Thats the next expidition in august. It is told that they have a Tatra there, an old Chezk car built and used by gangsters and gangsters only. The only car that could escape the police. Incredible design, it looks like a shark. Evil.

Soon time for coffee. I got a bad breath.

Drunk and happy.
Spent a few hours with Frans from Komplott drinking beers and talking about Citroen. He got a CX.
Next week we´re going up north to visit the Norberg Festival. Music and gayness.

Badly Drawn Pavement

Slimjim! I downloaded the new Baldy Drawn Boy of you last night, as you recomended. Loaded it on to a CD this morning and had it in my walkman on my way to work this morning. And you know what? Its a rip off. Its Pavement. It sounds like Pavement. Some tracks more than others. But totally. I like it. Pavement allready did this, years ago. Stephen Malkmus should give Badle drawn by a proper bitch slap. But I like it. Pop Non Stop.

The name of the game - Fotboll.

Malm scored 2-0 against Djurgrden last night. Stockholm loooooooooooooosers.
Malm number two in the league right now. Next week its Malm against Halmstad, number one in the league. Ill be there. Moral support. Moral disaster.

Got news from Christian this morning. Hes with his parents in Vttern on vacation. God only knows. I think his parents are trying to convince him to move back home. Brainwashing. Its the Berggren sekt.

More vomito

The cat threw up on the couch, leaving an impressive hairball for her human friends. What is the story with cats, do they eat grass to avoid throwing up or do they eat grass to be able to puke? Poor katten doesn't have any grass, she only has sad plants from the house that she is slowly eliminating. Could this be the cause of all her stomach problems?

And Tomas. The black barpapa is a living beard.

The video is from the Montreaux Jazz Festival from last week, that festival is fucking excellent, who´s up
for going next year?

Sherlock Melinder

I never made the connection between the spanish word "barba" and the pink hero "Barbapapa". But he doesn´t have a beard. Can somebody explain? I also heard that the sugary foam made out of sugar at amusement parcs (sockervadd) is called "barbapapa", which makes sense. But which came first?
Isn´t Barbapapa french? Probably not. I been living 30 years with all the info twisted. This explains a lot.

Speak no evil. We are part of the same team.

Bohman. You are not alone spending a friday night at home. At least you were in good company, yourself and 2 movies. I spent friday night at home as well. Looking at Superman on tele, Josephine sleeping in the sofa and me dreaming about a night out. Skint as always and tired como siempre. In the endI had a can of Folköl while listening to some records and the noice from the party next door.

While walking the dog yesterday, I got stuck in the leech while playing (and trying to take some "cool" photos") and fucked my fingers up. The same fingers that Haddokk once bit and once snapped into a bad position. The skin came of totally and my hand look like minced meat. Me clumsy. Could chop of the hands and that would be the end to my problems with broken fingers and bloody clothes.

Today, birthday party for a cousin of Josephine. Just about to leave to Lund. I hope they got beer.

I don´t think the program making images out of small images is that complicated. It just colorcodes the small images and treat them as pixels. And talking about images, i keep my fingers crossed for the Gros albumcover, that would be the übercoolest if you could use the same artist as Shellac did for the Terraform cover art.

All is love. A bit far away sometimes.

Posted some photos from Sonar at the nosordo. Even though i wasn´t there.

Jul 9, 2004

oh no

The cat puked all over my carpet as well. 3 big souvenirs, great.

The sky is a reflection of earth, soul & fire.

Yesterdat the sun came to visit. Luckily i stayed in most of the day and only managed to take a walk while the dark clouds came out again. And today they have promised up til 30 millimeters of rain. That is a lot. I even brought the camera to capture it. I love rain.
Weekend is sailing up. What does it got to offer? I´m bound to go to a birthday party in Lund. Someone i don´t really know. That´s family life for you. I would love a weekend in the sofa, by myself and my big ego. A DVD-marathon and some candy. But i guess that is out of the question. You get what you deserve.

Breakfast of Champions

'Tonight's special will be hotdogs. Lots of them.' That was the sentiment of Nathan's annual hotdog eating competition, which kicked off this year's competitive eating season. Takeru 'The Tsunami' Kobayashi is the undisputed champion of the event and this year he delighted the 5000-strong crowd by devouring 53.5 hotdogs in 12 minutes.

A big fuss was made about this year's event, but then everything about competitive eating is big, except the contestants. In the red-sauce corner, Kobayashi weighed in at just 132lbs, though unsurprisingly his weight fluctuates. He defeats larger opponents with his 'Solomon technique' - breaking the hotdogs in half to minimise chewing.

While developing & collecting photos.

Here are some digi ones that we got from some uncle of Josephine.

1928 - 2004

Well, according to SMHI, it was the coldest start of the summer in Sweden since 1928. No wonder I had to buy shoes to survive. More interesting facts, 100 ton of herring was killed by the swedish army! Stand up for your sillamadsrättigheter, vaya cara tienen!

And the latest update on the Evil Maersk luggage is that my bag showed up yesterday and later on Eugenia's too. Jim's bag is on its way together with Steve's suit. Or at least that it what they say...

I need a holiday.

What about the name Sten for the baby?

New Banjo - Same Old Strings

Someone at the office got a new phone. Don´t know if it´s a cellphone or a regular, but it got these new "funky" signals. She got the volume set to maximum. And she got a lot of phonecalls. She is also a smoker which means that she leaves the office every 15 minutes to have a cigarette, the long ones, Marlboro 100´s. Takes 5-10 minutes per cigarette. During these breaks she doesn´t bring her phone. You do the math yourself. That phone is driving me clazy, clazy, CLAZY. CLAZY.

Thanks to last week invation of irish, english, spanish, swiss and swedish people to malmö, i got my old walkman back. (Among other things. Thank you all for carrying my shit across Europe.) I realize now how much i missed it. Biking to work today i listened to the cd that was still in there since i last biked to work in Poble Nou, Adventure Time "Dreams of water themes". Fecking excellent album. Even you have to admit that, I-Erik?!
There´s nothing like listening to music in headphones while biking to work. Think those 10 minutes are the best 10 minutes of my day. Wish i could bike for at least 30 minutes. Maybe if we get a new flat outside Malmö. I´ll talk to Josephine about it.

Namecontest. As we can´t agree on a name for the upcoming release on the Melinder label, I would like to ask you for suggestions. I am still totally up for "Junior" or "Tommy", but Josephine changes her mind all the time. Her last idea was "Sixten" or "Hebbe". Sixten for me is either Sixten Herrgård who died from aids or the guy living across the street from us smoking pot and working in the graveyard, being quite a freak. And Hebbe is to much of a nickname to me. Another suggestion I had was "Graham" pronounced in swedish, but Josehine thinks it sounds too much like the flour. She could be right. I´m just afraid that we will never agree on a name, like many other things we never agree on. Noname Melinder?

I got work to do? Nah.

The Baron of Raval

Ah, enuff of boring finns slapping their dick all over their MPC´s (the only good thing about them is Ilpo´s haircut). Gimme some good old British folkrock.

Yesssss, The Pentangle.

Let no man steal your thyme (mp3)

Waaaglabla

Who needs luggage anyway?

Maersk airlines obviously must fancy worn underwear and cheap Swedish books, why else would they steal my luggage. After running like crazy trough the Copenhagen terminal A (I didn't even have time to buy salt licorice, that's how tight it was) we barely got on the plane on time just to nearly crash into evil British Airways plane while landing, or well we didn't actually land we had to go uuuup in the air again a few meters before crashing. The pilot didn't translate his Danish sarcasms about the English pilot in the other plane. Maybe it was just as good.

Anyways, our 4 bags never showed up. Only Steve got a jackpot and could arrive home with souvenirs and a happy smile. They said they would bring them over today. I'm preparing my battle to get 10 free trips from Maersk. Skada och värk, si señor. I actually have Cora's keys in my bag since my dad mysteriously "lost" my keys in Barcelona. Mierda.

Back at work. Everyone's amazed that I have a tan. There is serious pointing and "oh-my-godness-you-have-a-tan" going on. Next holiday in December. Shiiit.

Bring that beard back, Terminator X1.
Turn it up.

It itches. Why did i ever shave.

New release from Pan Sonic, Kesto, is absolutely Brutal!. 4CD´s with pure energy brought down to noice. That´s the music boys love to love and girls love to hate.

Pardon my french kiss.

Spent a good deal of the weekend in small countryhouses. Some of them on small islands and others in the middle of woods. I loved all of them. I seriously wanna swap our shitty expensive flat for a cheap house in the middle of nowhere with a car to go with it. I need fresh air and silence have never been sexier. I swap my ibook for a nice knife, my internetconnection for a good pair of wellington boots. My collection of noicy ragga / gabba for a nice radio with P4 and P1. I live on memories and bad coffee.

Who am I?

Attack the wack!

I can easily say that the sun at least, will be the end of my and i guess james´s as well back (you hanging in there james?)
Yesterday me and Jamesy spent 2hrs in the sun, and I´m totally fucked up today.
Last nite I went to see Shrek 2 together with Mercedes (quite good, fun movie, banderas doing the cat is genial) and I was so fucking red in the face I seriously thought about going back home, embarrasing, people turned around looking at me thinking, "what a freak". Still I prefer the sun from the rain. I really do. I mean it´s 2 1/2 months of pure horror here, but later Barcelona is a breeze.

Btw, I finally got a pop3 working with my domain, so from now on erik@eriklarsson.com is my preferred mail.

Bull.

The idea this monday was to post a photoalbum from the passed weekend which was spent in various places around Scania and Blekinge. But, camera was left behind in the flat. Typical. Short summary: BBQ´s, rain, soft airguns, rain, love and BBQ. Driving from Huaröd back to Malmö yesterday we had to stop by the side of the road, rain was coming down so heavily we couldn´t see sh*t. I have never seen rain like this before. What is happening? Is it the end of the world as we know it? And we feel fine.

Lole y Manuel was a couple in the 70´s making some fantastic music, I couldn´t resist
Posting a song up on this mutha for you guys to hear. This song clearly showcases the
how obvious the arab influence in flamenco (and Spain) really is. She is singing incredible.

In Sweden you wake up early every day.
You eat a lot and don't drink as much.
Where did Rebecca with Spanjakka, Suissa and Ireland go.
They disappeared.
Jon and I are taring jetties moving stones.

How Things Change (aka How Things Stay the Same)

Is Ebay the epitome of modern society and all its shallowness? While you pick up rare records and stuff (what it was initially designed for I suppose) I have seen a couple of things of late that surprised me. One was someone trying to sell Paul McCartney's cold, claiming he'd got it off him when he was working for him and that he'd "cough into a napkin" if the price was right. The other thing was people selling mud from Glastonbury festival. Now, this is not a nicely packaged piece of prime turf from the rolling hills of Somerset, oh no, this is shit-and-piss mud scraped of the sweaty Wellington boot of some student who claims to have spent the entire weekend in "one of the first two rows of the Pyramid Stage, where Muse, Morrissey and Oasis played". Big deal. The first guy who did it raised 210 pounds for charity and the same for himself. Then loads of people tried it, to varying degrees of success. Also, saw today on the Guardian website that Paddy Ashdown is the International Governor of Bosnia. When did that happen? I love that. He was publically shamed in Britain for having an extra marital affair and labelled "Paddy Pants-down" then reappears as International governor of Bosnia. Excellent.
