Music to wake up to and to go to sleep with.

Ljudbilden & Piloten live at Distro - Inkonst

Patient people live longer. We got a new stream of sound for you.

Anyone saw the debate last night?

How I quit scratching my arse in 20 days.

Yesterday we visited the birthdepartment (what do you call it?) of Ystad. As you are free to choose any hospital you want when it is time to deliver the mail we been looking a few different ones. Malmö is big and professional, but very cold and grey. Ystad is famous for being quite alternative and cosy. And yes. It was like night & day. We decided to go for Ystad. It´s 45 minutes drive from Malmö, beautiful little costtown with a small beautiful little hospital, friendly and nice. After the birth they got the hotel you stay at for a few days after to check that all is under control, and the hotel part was like a nice minihotel with nice beds, food and entertainment.

I´m getting more and more nervous by the minute.

Hôtel Pèré

No schweat Andy, I got help from Christian and Cora and it didn't really take that long. I think the hard work will be to open the boxes and decide what to do with it all.... there are quite a few of them, 6 or so.
Cora cleaned the room and it looks superb, almost like a hotel. Currently the swedes are staying there. Today we also get two german girls and on Saturday two more swiss girls. Girls girls girls when all the boys have fled Barcelona.

A kingdom for a paradox
Gay Christians don´t belong on stage

Joanna Newsome / The Hidden Cameras at KB, Malmö, last night.

Thanks to KB and their ability to sometimes start concerts in time and sometimes 3 hours late, we almost missed Joanna Newsome last night. If it says on the tickets that doors open at 20.00, normally the supportact starts around 22.00 and the mainact at 23.00. Last time we went to see Lambchop we ended up waiting at KB for 2 hours to see the worst supportact God ever created and then one more hour for Lambchop. Boring. So, yesterday we showed up at 21.00. Saw the two last songs of Joanna Newsome, amazing. I love her and I am in love with her. No doubt.

Then after an hour beers and queers The Hidden Cameras started their espectaculo. In their best moments they sounded like Neutral Milk Hotel, and those moments were very few. Maybe 10-15 seconds in total. And in the worst moments they were like a bad copy of a boring Belle & Sebastian. It was like big potpourri of the last 30 years of indierock. From Ramones to Eurovision Song Contest 2004. It was horrible. They were 9-10 people on stage and still they didn´t manage to create wall of sound. IT was plain boring and they had no energy at all. In between tracks they tried to drop a few lines in swedish and no one could hear what they tried to say. One time they said "Vi älskar krossa kapitalet" (Don´t know how to translate that, it´s like something young angry working class kids shout at the rich people in power. "Death to the capitalists!"), which per se is a nice paradox as the 500-600 people in there each paid 250 swedish kronor to get in, 15 sek to hang their coats and 43 kronor each beer in plastic cups. I would guess that each "rebel" in there spent 400 swedish kronor to see their lousy rip-off show.

The only positive thing about last night was that I saw a poster for upcoming concert in December:
Motörhead. Supportact: Sepultura.
I´ll be there.

Ps. I have a slight hangover. I blame The Hidden Clogs

24 euros

The big nasty bowl that's been living in sant pere is empty. The hard work of tommytener and andysixcents is over. 24 euros all greased up in coins from the last 2 years. There was also coins from hong kong, good old PTAS (sob sob), danish kronen (6), money from Athens and all over the disgusting world of coins. Viva los visa cards!

How many el señor gaitero do you get for 24 eurocitos? Or maybe it will be enough for the phonecall to DHL. It's hard to get in and out of the skräpflat. New veggieballs for dinner, bon preu has modernized its shelves.

Windy Weekend

Not much news from this weekend. Friday was quiet, went to the Rainbo Club neaqr my flat, then to the Morrissey evening, which was funny. On Saturday we went around the downtown area and looked at skyscrapers and went shopping at Urban Outfitter's. Saturday went to see Sky Captain with Jude Law and Gwynth Paltrow. The effects are really good and the robots are excellent in a retro-futuristic way. It's set in 1938 and in one section of the film they go to the cinema to watch The Wizard of Oz. I didn't realise it was that old. In colour, too. The film is quite good, anyway. Have been listening to the full Det Gamla Landet album all weekend. It's amazing.

Nice trainers, Tommy.

Doctor Blogger will give you a lesson!

Dear Slackers,

If you look at the blog below this, posted by our dear Rebo, you can see that it carries a wonderful and quite funny little image. And if you scroll down a bit you can find the same image being used by Jim in his blog. Why is that? Did they post the same image? No, they didn´t. But they gave the image the same name, or they didn´t give the image any name at all. The image of the guitarr that you can see below is called "image.jpg", and when you upload a new image with that name it will overwrite the file that is on the server.

Me explico?

So. The lesson learned is: Give your images and files unique names when you upload them on the server.

The guitar has left the building

20 kilos of mög later the boxes are oficially out of the room and waiting for Señor DHL. Andy, any news?
The Erikk dropped by to pick up the guitar. We are waiting for the sound of mög.

Magnificent fireworks yesterday! Really really good actually. Does that mean I am turning into a Spaniardarian?

Negroni

Javi´s new bar, Negroni opened last thursday,
Me and Roope went there on Saturday and it was a
really pleasant surprise, at first I totally forgot
that the place used to be the old recordstore!

All black, with red lights, think daft punk.

We had two cocktails each and a total of 18euros (4 drinks)
And good cocktails!

I´ll try and take some pics soon.

Yeehaw. How we like the dots!

I got my å, ä and ö back. After months of missing my lovely dots. Å Ä Ö.

(Also bought a skijacket for Junior. Gonna try to find some small ski´s as well. Chamonix in february!)

A Kingdom For A weekend For King

On top of all other shit, i bought these wonderful sneakers.

Report from weekend.

Friday night: at home, food and relax.

Saturday: shopping like faggots, food at MISO (excellent vegan/bio restaurant, a little bit expensive), releaseparty for Testbild at La Couronne. Dr Higgins live and some other crappy turdband. Home early.

Sunday: foodshoping and meeting with Pink Flag / Knaster about upcoming shows. In the evening, Distro. Ljudbilden & Piloten live. Very very very good show. Breathtaking. Sold a bunch of cds. Bought a bunch as well. Its all about give and take.

Monday is like usual.

King Mozza

I am surprised how popular Morrissey and The Smiths are here. I never really realised how big there are/were over here. People are talking about Morrissey all the time. People camp out in front of his house, people know more than I ever will (or Steve will after reading that Uncut Special) about The Smiths. It's amazing. I am going to a Morrissey/Smiths night tonight at a local bar. There are some photos of this very-typical American bar here: JAMES' FRIDAY NIGHT

Just ordered a IPod Mini Gold AND an Airport Extreme card. Got paid today. And I can´t keep track of money, so I better waste it all at once.

Saw myself in the mirror at work. I look like a clown today. I was very tired this morning and took a pair of pants i normally never wear (yes, i still have a lot of that kind of clothes), and I never wear them for a reason, obviously. They are very short. It´s kind of a pair of jeans, but i have cut them to make them shorter and managed to make them very short. I look like a clown, a lot. Short jeans, and striped socks, stupid shirt and funny shoes. I need a stylist.

The Drugs Do Work

On the third day without coffee my body collapsed. I needed it. We went to this Mom&Pop Class, to learn about the process of giving birth. I feel asleep. Got back home and had myself a nice capuccino. I was worth it. Hell yeah. Today i am back on coffee, and I feel great.

It is payday. It is friday. We got a new TV last night. Cool and with a remotecontrol and all.

"Alla har hört den skrikiga tyska diktatorn, men få har hört honom tala som en normal människa. Orsaken är att det finns bara ett bevarat ljudband på vilket Adolf Hitler talar i ett normalt tonläge".

Wow. Ett ljudband med normalt tonläge. Ett. Fan vad jobbigt att vara Hitler.

So Good...

Went to see the first of the shows presented by the Wire at the Empty Bottle last night. The first acts were lofty,. wafty IDM minimalism, which were okay but not that suitable for a place like that (a small, 250 capacity rock venue). Then OXbow came on, which was okay - intense math rock with experimental bits and a huge singer who kept taking his clothes off. Nothing amazing. I would have enjoyed it more a couple of years ago. Boom Bip however, was excellent. There was him and some other bespectacled dude and they rocked hard. The set was more beat-based than I expected, as the recordings are more melodic and minimal. They were so, so good.

Bonnie King Billy

Bonnie "Prince" Billy: "Pussyfooting"
He takes a Dylan drink; he takes a Warhol drink. What a character Oldham still is. I mean, he wrote an article for The Guardian a few months ago in which he bemoaned how his ward/persona, B"P"B, has wantonly usurped his career! But let's talk about you: If you ever get locked inside a Best Buy one night, you could do a Richard-Pryor-in-Superman-3 job on the alarm, fire up a router and a laptop, bust open a CD-R, connect to a file-sharing service, and burn yourself a six- or seven-song EP of Will Oldham's "electronic" work to commemorate your awkward evening. You'd notice that, except for an odd experiment with David Pajo, all of Oldham's machine-driven songs are "covers," either of others' songs, or of his own work, or of others' poems. "Pussyfooting", alas, is no ankle-fetishist's ballad, but a semi-straight tiptoe through Mariah Carey's "Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)", which was a Whitney Houston rip anyway.

Oldham has a soft spot for forcing funny drum machines to sober up, reckon, because despite these beats' woofer-potential, they maintain a dopey stiffness reminiscent of his 1996 Arise Therefore "drums" (which were credited to the Mayatone machine as if it were a band member, Maya Tone). My crap-synth-dependent college band sent Oldham a sampler back when he started Palace Records, and the response note asked twice what machine was used to make the drums. Point being: If you want to make your own version of this song, just amble over to the hit music section of the Best Buy and puncture a copy of Mariah Carey's 1999 Rainbow (featuring Starsky & Hutch's irascible Snoop Dogg, and a version of that Postal Service classic "Against All Odds"). Play the disc on a wall of speakers, trot to the section where the store keeps a few keyboards handy, and finesse the jam. Be sure to program the kitschiest mechanized strings and bass available. Mumble the verses, and you've almost got it, except for the Ween-esque live guitar solo, and, uh, Oldham's feathery and sweet multi-tracked chorus.

Like Candy for a Drunk Driver

I am on my first day without coffee. So far, so good. More or less. Started up morning without coffee, had some chocolate milk instead (OBOY) and sandwiches. Came to work and had some water instead of the usual coffee, wasnt that exciting. At the coffeebreak at 10.00 I had some water, again. Even less exciting. And now for lunch, water and noodles. And a walk in the windy streets of Malmo city. Cheered myself up with some candy (Dragster2000) instead of the usual coffee. I love coffee. My stomach is fucked. I have to try one week without coffee to see what it says. Doctor came at dawn.

What else is new? Hmm.... counting down the days to payday. Friday. Need cash. Need life.

What to Eat on the Way to Mars

What to eat...

Tortoise, Tortoise, blah blah blah

Now that was one dull show. Those Tortoise guys are getting old and farty. they wanked their instruments off all afternoon, as the sun was going down over downtown Chicago, to an almost-full Millennium Park auditorium (see pics in link) and lots of adoring fans. They were popular but very, very dull. I like instrumental music and I like long, winding tracks and jazzy parts and so on, but this was hard to swallow. They've lost whatever they had. they seem to have gone from "Post Rock" to "Prog Rock". They should split up before they turn into an indie Pink Floyd.

Nice place though: MILLENNIUM PARK, CHICAGO

The hard reality of September

SUFFERL

Theyre opening up a new LIDL in front of the office. I hate LIDL. More than any supermarket. LIDL is evil. You know that in Germany the staff at LIDL are only allowed to go to the bathroom on their breaks. Which means on the 15-minute break in the morning, the 30-minutes lunchbreak or the 15-minutes break in the afternoon. BUT! If you are a woman and are having your period you are allowed to go to the bathroom whenever you need / want to. But HOW could LIDL know when women had their period or not? LIDL had to call to a crisis meeting to get to the bottom of this problem. And finally, like Professor Baltazar, they came up with a solution. Women who are having their period have to wear a red hedband (scarves) on their heads. Wow. LIDL got a solution to anything and everything.

Support LIDL. Buy their shitty german products financed by nazi gold. Hell yeah.

But oh well, at least Swissychrisy is preparing an african meal. Is there an equivalent of European meal? What would that be? I am sure sill, our dear herring, would make it into the picture. And a little snaps from mi pueblo of course. And a little dill, because I'm worth it.

Fat of the Land

Yes, I made it. Chicago is my new home. It feels good to be here, too. Very exciting. Went for pizza, Budweiser and seventeen Big Macs last night to celebrate. The flight was fine (except forthe Iberia connection, BCN-London, which was late, unsurprisingly) and I eventually got here 7.30pm local time. We are seven hours behind Spain, by the way. It's 8.47am here, now, not that that means anything. Anyway, will post more...later. Love and respect goes out to all my homeboyz and homegirlz in BCN and to the Designer-Stubble Malmö Massive.

Supersized me me me me me me.

Speaking of Fettoland. Yesterday we saw Supersize Me. Jesus mother goose. America, the land of the free and the land of the obese, never stop to surprise me. The plot didnt really surprise me, that you get terribly sick by eating only macdonalds for a month, but the story around it. The sickness of that big fat country. Exactly how bad it is. In schools and the general knowledge about food. Of course the movie is quite extreme, it is entertainment. Or infotainment. But that country is going down the drain. And fast. JAMES! Keep away from the supersized meals and the fattening fastfood!

Yesterday i jumped a redlight on my way from work. As usual. This time the police stopped me. They were undercover, badass motherfuckers. Out to get me. I got a fine for 600 kronor. Yeehaw. I needed that.

Christian is coming back yeah? I believe when i see it. He is probably on his way to Ulam Batur to find a new girlfriendo.

This is Tomas, reporting from a windy sweden. Fall is here.

PS. The importance of being Tomas Melinder. Yesterday i shaved. From having the beard of Santa Calus, Saddam Hussein, Fidel Castro, a bum - I trimmed it down to George Michael levels. And did anyone notice. No. Not Josephine. Not Kristofer. No one at the office. Am I THAT important? I shall slit my wrists to see if anyone notice the dead guy at my desk. DS.

He served us well but now that he's old and tired we are returning him to mother Svea. May he bring you all the luck in the world. He will arrive by air mañana, please make sure he makes it over the bridge.

On Request.

My lunchmeeting with my boss yesterday didnt bring any spectacular news to the light. I let him know what i thought could be done better or worse at this newspaperfactory and he let me know what he had in mind for the future. All sounds good and some parts even fucking excellent. But we have learnt from experience that we shouldnt trust these words, words from bosses in general. They are very often empty words, promises and dreams. But it is a good start. Hopefully Jon will start working here next month, and then we can start bringing the new world order God damn it. Yodela-ih-oh!

White Magic

Check out their ep "in through the outdoor" out on Dragcity, very good stuff, psychedelic

Dynamite - A darn fine swedish invention

Yesterday I saw Christian. We went for a walk, we had blueberry pie with vanillawhip, we saw a movie and we dreamt about cool bikes. This morning he took his bags and wandered of to the bus. At 5 to 5 this morning. Take care of him when he gets down to cool Barcelona.

Weekend is here to revolt my feelings towards life in general.

Stairway to Heaven or Highway to Hell?

MARATHON SONGWRITER TO PERFORM LONGEST ROCK SONG EVER.MARK MALLMAN WILL DEBUT HIS 52.4 HOUR MAMMOTH ROCK SONG LABOR DAY WEEKEND.

Minneapolis based musician, Mark Mallman, plans to perform a 52.4 hour pop song entitled "MARATHON 2" this Labor Day weekend, 2004. The event will double the record he previously set for longest pop song written and performed, when he gave a 26.2 hour performance of “MARATHON” in 1999. "The Marathon Man" will begin his performance of MARATHON 2 on Saturday, September 4th at 6pm Central Standard Time, and continue through 2 nights, ending on Monday, September 6th 10pm CST – at The Turf Club Bar on 16012 University Avenue, St Paul Minnesota 55104.

"This is a daunting prospect for me," says Mallman, "but the date marks the 5 year anniversary of the first one. There has been such a high demand from my fans to do it again, but doing it again didn’t excite me, until I got the idea of making it twice as long."

The performance will also be webcast on www.mallman.com

Blixt, dunder and thunder in Barcelona as the September storms have begun. It's still 30 degrees and 88% humidity but as a bonus we got rain to make us feel better. And Tomas, could it be that they're firing you? They have online evidence of your lack of work performance you schlakker.

8 år av krig är värt ett bröllop.

Last night i spent with Det Gamla Landet, mixing the songs to their new full length album, and it sounds fa-tan-stix. Really. This is slamming! Every single track is a hit, and the quality and of the sounds is amazing. These fellas have put a lot of work in to these ten tracks. James, we said it before, but i think we struck gold.

8 years of war is worth a wedding.

Apart from that, I have a headache and i have a meeting with my boss today. About the motherfecking future. What is there? And why?
